Explore Faith as a Christian

Chapter 1

Faith

Matthew 2

Hi, Welcome to another episode. We are going to be talking briefly about faith today. Faith is such an essential, foundational part of our spiritual lives, isn’t it? When we think about faith, we often turn to Hebrews 11:1, which defines it so beautifully: 'Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.' That verse captures the very heart of faith—this tension, this mix of assurance and uncertainty, all contained in hope.

Matthew 2

The book of Hebrews shows us that faith isn’t about having all the answers laid out in front of us. It's really about embracing the unseen—the things we hope for but can’t yet touch or measure. And that’s hard for some of us, isn’t it? Especially in a world that often tells us to rely solely on what we can see, what we can calculate.

Matthew 2

But faith calls us to trust. It’s a relationship, not a transaction. It’s trusting in God's promises, even when life feels uncertain. And that ties so well into Romans 10:17, which says, ‘So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.’ You know, it really highlights how Scripture grounds our faith. It’s through the Word that we develop this deep connection and trust in God. Essentially, the more we hear, the more we understand—and the more we grow.

Matthew 2

I think sometimes we underestimate how active faith really is. It’s not just sitting back and waiting for things to happen; it’s stepping forward with a sense of conviction, even when the path ahead isn’t perfectly clear. Think of it like planting a seed. You can’t immediately see the growth happening under the soil, but you trust that with care and patience, that seed will sprout in time.

Matthew 2

So, as you reflect on these scriptures, consider this: Where is God calling you to lean into faith today? Maybe it's in a decision you’re wrestling with, or perhaps it’s in trusting Him with a part of your life that feels uncertain. Whatever it is, remember that faith isn’t about perfection. It’s about dependence, a reliance on the One who sees and knows far more than we ever can.

Matthew 2

Thank you for joining me today on this journey of exploring faith. I really hope this conversation gave you something to think about, something to carry with you this week. Until next time, take care, and let's keep walking forward in faith together, Jesus is Lord amen.
