Our Faith is based on Faith

Chapter 1

Our Faith is based on Faith

Matthew 2

Hello, and welcome to another episode of Eternal Words. I am Matthew. It’s always a joy to have you with me as we reflect on matters of faith and the profound truths of scripture. Today, we’re diving into a concept that’s so fundamental to our Christian walk: faith itself. It may sound similar to the last episode but please roll with me on this one. Today we are looking at more specifically, what it means when we say that our faith is based on faith. Hebrews 11 verse 6 says, And without faith, it is impossible to please God because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him., which means our faith, which is our relationship with Christ, is not possible if we don't have Faith which Hebrews 11 verse 1 says is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. that is something, isn't it.

Matthew 2

Galatians 3:11 says, ‘Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God, because ‘the righteous will live by faith.’’ This verse reminds us that following Christ is not about earning our way to God through actions—no matter how good or noble those actions might appear. Instead, it calls us to trust, fully and completely, in His promise to us. Faith isn’t just something we have; faith is something we live. It permeates everything.

Matthew 2

Paul reinforces this idea in 2 Corinthians 5:7, where he writes, ‘For we live by faith, not by sight.’ And, you know, when you think about it, that’s a remarkable thing to say. To live not by sight—that is, not by what we can see, measure, or even predict—but entirely by trusting God’s unseen hand. It’s, it’s truly one of the deepest expressions of dependency on Him. Living by faith means that our decisions, our hopes, and our longings, all hinge on the assurance that God is who He says He is and will do what He says He will do.

Matthew 2

Now, faith based on faith might almost sound circular to some. But here’s the beautiful thing: it’s not based on wishful thinking or blind optimism. It’s rooted in the character of God, His promises, and the evidence of His faithfulness throughout scripture and in our lives. Faith, in that sense, isn’t irrational—it’s relational. It demands trust because we know the One we’re trusting is unchanging and good.

Matthew 2

And isn’t that liberating? To know we don’t have, to hold everything in our control or understand every detail of the journey? Faith allows us to embrace what we cannot see and rest in the assurance that God has already seen it. When life feels uncertain, or when doubts creep in, His faithfulness becomes the anchor for our faith. It kind of gives us the courage to face the unknown with peace.

Matthew 2

As we wrap up this reflection, I want to leave you with this thought: faith invites us to see beyond our limitations. It’s the bridge between our humanity and God’s divinity. And so, as we live by faith and not by sight, may we grow more deeply in trusting His ways, even when they don’t yet make sense to us. Because, you know, faith is not a leap in the dark—it’s a step into God’s light.

Matthew 2

And that’s all for today. Thank you for reflecting with me, and until next time, may your walk be guided by the holy spirit in faith in Jesus name Amen. Take care, and God bless.
