Confession and Belief

Confession and belief what are they?

Chapter 1

Confession and Belief

Matthew 2

Hello welcome to another episode of Eternal Words, am Matthew, Today, I want to talk about the profound connection between confession and belief. These two aspects—so intertwined they are at the very heart of our faith, aren’t they? When we think about it, confession is not just a mere declaration of our faith in Jesus Christ. No, it’s deeper. It’s an outward expression of an inward conviction, a faith that’s rooted in the very core of our being.

Matthew 2

Paul says in Romans 10:9, "If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Notice the balance here. Confession with the mouth and belief in the heart—both are essential. It’s not one over the other, but a kind of, you know, harmonious unity. And it’s this unity that brings life to our faith.

Matthew 2

But here’s the thing, the act of confession also challenges us. It’s easy to say, "I believe," when times are good. But, what about in moments of doubt? in seasons of struggle, when our faith feels more like a whisper than a roar. Have you ever found yourself hesitating to declare your faith aloud? I think we all have, at some point. And yet, even in those moments, God hears the quietest confession—it’s not about volume, but sincerity. That does not stop us from confessing aloud to everyone about our faith though.

Matthew 2

And belief? Belief is, well, it’s not just intellectual agreement. It’s the kind of trust that moves us to action. I often think about my children when they were younger, learning to jump. They believed I would catch them, but that belief meant nothing until they leaped. Our belief should be like that—a trust that spurs us to live out our faith boldly.

Matthew 2

Now, let’s reflect on this together. What does confession look like in your life? What about belief? Are there areas where you need to lean in, where your faith needs to, kind of, take that leap? These questions are not always easy, but they’re meant to draw us closer to God, to help us grow in love and obedience.

Matthew 2

And so, as we close today, let me encourage you. Don’t underestimate the power of confessing your faith— to others, to yourself, and God. And let that belief in your heart stir you to live in the fullness of Christ’s love. On that note, we’ll wrap up this episode. Thank you for spending this time with me. Until next time, may your faith grow deeper, and may your path be illuminated by His everlasting word in Jesus name. Amen.
